A mighty fortress is our doubt
It keeps the rot of faith without
What's true is true, but wait to see
A patient doubt's no enemy
What's false is false, we can be sure
Once time and tests yield knowledge pure
But never haste to shed your doubt
When faith replaces careful thought
The battle's lost and ends in rout
By doubt are wishful errors caught
And those who know what's really wrong
Or those who take the short for long
If they do sneer at fortress doubt
Their costly errors find them out
Who knows what's false? Who knows what's true?
Sometimes its me. Sometimes its you
But certainty is hard to find
Doubt is the healthy state of mind
